Bio

George Hagen was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. He grew up in England, the United States, and currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from New York University and began his career as a screenwriter.

He has published novels for adults and children, including THE LAMENTS, which was published in 11 countries, and won the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing. His children’s novel GABRIEL FINLEY & THE RAVEN’S RIDDLE, was a starred title in Booklist and Publishers Weekly.

His short film, Jupiter Washington~Carpenter, was exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum in 2024.

His animations are accessible on this site, along with his paintings, sculpture and street puppets.
