George Hagen was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. His first novel, THE LAMENTS, is a semi-autobiographical comic novel about his family's travels from Africa to England to the United States. He graduated from New York University, began his career as a screenwriter in New York and Los Angeles. He has published cartoons, articles, novels, designed and performed with large street puppets in a variety of parades and demonstrations in New York. Recently he completed a short film with shadow puppets titled JUPITER WASHINGTON-CARPENTER. His adult novels include THE LAMENTS and TOM BEDLAM. His children's novel, GABRIEL FINLEY & THE RAVEN'S RIDDLE, was followed by a sequel, GABRIEL FINLEY & THE LORD OF AIR AND DARKNESS. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife Terri Seligman.
